History: It is because of his employment within the Charles BIACHETTI & Cie (Co.) Company, located in MARSEILLE (13), that Charles SAMBRONI became passionate about magnetic compasses.
Thanks to an employment by the Bianchetti & Cie (Co.) Company, a centennial company in the manufacture of magnetic compasses and other navigational instruments, Charles Sambroni, an engineer in training, became passionate about magnetic compasses. Around 1950, he founded his company and acquired, very quickly, all of the Marseille shipping companies as customers. In 1954, Charles Sambroni takes over the Bianchetti & Cie (Co.) manufacturing factory and team, as well as the ships of the Navy, and most of those that come out of France's yards. Charles Sambroni surrounds himself with important people of value (Pierre Gourvest, senior officer of the Navy, former compass professor at the Ecole Navale (Navy School); Pierre Descotes, Central operator; Roger Hadida, polytechnician; Jacques Nosley, marine engineering civil engineer).
With the end of the colonial empire and the loss of the flag's monopole by the shipping companies, Charles Sambroni goes towards yachting. In 1965, he contributed to the launch of the Pierre Canto harbor in Cannes, where he founded a branch. In addition, SAMBRONI & Cie (Co.) moved to Nantes and Paris, and expanded its facilities in Marseilles, around the Vieux Port (Old Harbor) (including the current store at 4 Quai du Port). Charles Sambroni is Chairman of the Sté Civile des Professionnels du Nautisme (Yachting Professionals Civil Company), which he has participated in since its creation, in 1964.
The SAMBRONI & Cie (Co.) Company has established its reputation in the magnetic compass field and is probably the only one to have compensated more than 6,000 compasses. By getting interested, very early, in gyroscopic compasses, (Arma Brown gyrocompass manufactured by the A.O.I.P.) the Charles SAMBRONI & Cie (Co.) Company has equipped most French ships, built in the 50s, 60s and 70s, including the FRANCE liner. The SAMBRONI & Cie (Co.) Company has also expanded its range of products (transceivers, radars, autopilots).
Today, Charles Sambroni continues to lead the work of his company which, although considerably reduced in staff, remains profitable and attractive.
Moreover, with the enormous development of electronic and computer systems, the company became specialized in electronic navigational equipment, Radar, GPS, chart reader, sounding machines, radio beacons, VDR, SMDSM station, satellite communications, etc…
Today, the Sambroni company, managed by Ludovic Roche, an engineer in Electronics and Industrial Data Processing from the Technopole (Science Park) of Château Gombert in Marseille, will amplify the fishing and yachting sectors which will complete the National Navy and Merchant Navy business segments.
